M.A. JOURNALISM & MASS COMMUNICATION

This course covers print media, radio, television production, corporate communication, advertising & other media-related areas in equal measure. Spread over two years with four semesters. The basic concepts and models in Communication with special emphasis on characteristics of mass communication are introduced. Emphasis is given to the structure of a newspaper organization, the basics of editing and presentation, rights and responsibilities of the Editor. The students will acquire adequate grounding in theories and philosophies of the profession so that they will be equipped to act as mature and perceptive learners of journalism and communication. The course also train students to become competent professionals with a vision and understanding of public affairs, philosophy and functioning of legislative bodies and public institutions.

M.Sc Electronic Media

This course aims to train a student in contemporary television production skills, radio production, multimedia and web designing. The course is taught by dedicated professionals with a wide range of industry experience. When possible, their skills are supplemented by a visiting artist program, bringing industry professionals of national and international repute to the academic program to work alongside both staff and students. The emphasis of the course is on learning through practical experience and training. From their first day, students are “hands on” with facilities, and this continues throughout the two years. The course enjoys a direct relationship with the media industry through an active internship program where students take part in professional placements as part of their study. This further enhances the practical aspect of their study. Apart from this the course provides advanced training in Radio, TV and Web Journalism. The training will include skills in writing, recording and editing and presentation of news and topical programmes such as current affairs and panel discussion

Eligibility

  • Any Graduate with a minimum of 45 % | (40 % for SC/ ST/ Category-1)
  • Any Graduate employed in a newspaper, TV channel, television or film
    production
    companies   if he / she is sponsored by the employer.
